Abstract:

It is known from the theory of belt conveyor calculation that increasing angle of inclination of lateral conveyor rollers increases productivity of the conveyor and, consequently, increases resistance to the conveyor belt motion on the roller carriages. In this regard, it is necessary to determine maximum angle of inclination of the conveyors with deeply-sagging belt.

In the article, a problem of determining angle of inclination of the conveyor with three roller bearings is stated and has been solved on the basis of established dependence between resistance to motion of the belt conveyor with deeply-sagging belt on the carrying rollers and parameters of the belt tray and cargo properties.

It was assumed that the belt has a form of a box consisting of infinitely long elastic plates with flexural rigidity with the stretched tension forces. Cargo is a free-flowing medium in the limit state, i.e. internal stresses in the cargo follow the Coulomb law.

For determining maximum angle of the conveyor inclination, it is necessary to take into account impact of not only such components as cargo weight and friction, but also an effect of force of resistance caused by the cargo deformation when a belt with the weight is passing through the roller carriage.

It was revealed that critical inclination of the conveyor with deeply-sagging belt depends on the belt tension, angle of side roller inclination, cargo properties, and, at essential degree, elastic properties and, in particular, flexural rigidity of the belt.

Further, it was found that at side rollers inclination β = 35–40°, critical inclination of conveyor with deeply-sagging belt ranges 28–30° for coals.
