Decision Making Statement

The final decision always lies with the editors. Reviewer recommendations are highly influential, but not binding. If reviewers unanimously recommend publication, the editors read the paper in full before making a final call. If the consensus is to reject, the editors may issue a decision without further review, accompanied by the reviewers’ comments.

Editors are crucial to the review process, since they serve the journal as both specialists and generalists, who in the latter capacity are called upon to adjudicate the strengths of manuscripts across its various topics, methods, and analyses.

Editors consider the feedback provided by the peer reviewers and arrive at a decision (group consensus minimum of 5 editorial board members).

Editors may choose to:

     - Accept the manuscript

     - Request revisions and a resubmission

     - Reject the submission

Editors make the ultimate decision (acceptance for publication, revision, or rejection) based on reviewer’s comments, reviewers’ re-review comments, as well as editors’ opinions.
